Well, its certainly still one of the same brood... perhaps this chap will join up and then we can tell him to buy a Haynes Manual?
"Unfortunately during the day a clutch problem proved to be it's downfall. Not a lot of definite information is known about the car at this stage. It is thought the car was the very last built by the MG Rover factory Race division - apparently to a specific order, hence the LHD. It was specifically built for Endurance Racing, and in particular was being readied for a 24 hour race at Spa and was all but complete when the factory went belly up. Engine is a Ford all alloy unit of about 5 litres capacity and is supposed to be producing a bit over 500 bhp. Gearbox is a 5 speed sequential unit by Drenth in the Netherlands. Car with driver and fuel weighs approx 1600 Kgs. It is apparently geared currently for about 170 mph with very tall 1st gear (estimated about 75 - 80 mph) The owner is still endeavouring to find lots more info about the car and its construction. At this time he has no wiring diagrams or leads to paths into the dash etc. etc. etc. so there is still much unknown and much to learn." |

Not sure the description is entirely correct. From memory this was being built to order for a privateer, but I think it was for a series and not specifically for Spa.
The Dreadnought V8 got a passing mention but describing it merely as a version of this vehicle is a bit wide of the mark in my view seeing as it was a 385 prototype. |

Just looked at the images again on that website - I'm minded that was not the car auctioned off when Sport & Racing closed.

The more I look at it the more I'm minded the description isn't correct. It's got a 385 bodykit on it for a start which is very different to the full race spec arches and skirts, so maybe it is one of the other supercharged prototypes that were knocking around and has been stripped out for racing?

I've been told that Oakfields sold the car in the summer and it was then exported to Australia. The photos in the link relate to two events that the car has competed in since arrive in Oz.
