mpg
Although I have had these cars for nearly seven years, this is my first diesel, which I bought last November. Initially I was disappointed with the mpg (38) but living in a rural area, and with no mods,I accepted it.However 3 months back,I went for a full service(and I mean full) and now on brim to brim check I am achieving 43 mpg which I am delighted with.

Are you allowed to do that? Will it not fail the MOT on something?

On a diesel it will still pass the MOT fine due to the way they are tested and it gives you a few more bhp to.

Excellent. Next question. How does one do it? Is it a DIY job or do you have to get a new exhaust fabricated? Is there a kit that anyone sells?
tnx Nick

Several specialist Exhaust centres will make or supply and fit a stainless Bypass pipe for you.
Prices etc vary wildly dependant on area and who doers it. I am sure people will say who did theirs. |

Bear in mind that you do stand the chance of a MOT failure..
if ... 1 ..your Car is after Oct 2003 and 2. the MOT man is on the ball. As its not allowed to change any of the emission systems on cars are after that date. You could still probably get away with a sports cat or even removing the innards for you cat so it looks the same . I've had 2 companies refuse to decat my ZT CDTI for this same reason as its a late 53 plater . Chris
