We only have government MOT centers here in Northern Ireland so sadly, we get whoever is available. last MOT, my ZR went through with zero advisories.
Had my ZT serviced last week and all that it needs (so far) for MOT is the handbrake tightened. Lower engine mount to be replaced too and that is it. Car is in excellent condition. Still get very nervous though about MOT.

Concerned at the lack of a dispatched email from them, I emailed them yesterday via Ebay to ask them if they had been dispatched. No reply from them and I read a few concerns that others are having similar problems contacting them.

A bit of research suggests they are into selling lots of unassociated nick nacks, so I then tried to find a phone number to ring them. The only phone number I was able to find for them - 01706 229555 was a discontinued one.

The company operates under various names, making me even more concerned - ybcars; WhyBee Ltd; Yates & Bloomfield Mechatech - a Mark Timothy Yates and a Robert Bloomfield, all from Rossendale Lancs.

None of it is conclusive yet, but a company which cannot be easily contacted makes me very suspicious of them and their products.

Has anyone got a valid phone number for this company please?
I've just had a reply from them and they are to be putting them in the post late this afternoon. I have expressed my displeasure, explaining that I paid 1st class postage for a reason, that car parts usually are needed urgently. They say their ad said delivery in one week, it actually said anticipated delivery 29th April and the same date repeated in the order confirmation email.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

After all that... They turned up Wednesday, a bit too late for me to fit, but not a problem as the garage had agreed to fit them during the MOT.

Arrived this morning for the MOT and he said he wouldn't have time and it hadn't been booked for it doing anyway.

He passed it as OK as it was anyway, they weren't gone, but on the way to needing replacement - so noted as the only advisories on the certificate.

Still need to get them done though, any volunteers to help swap them, preferably with a lift or pit local to me and having done them before?

Whatever you do don't name the garage as you don't know who's reading I'm sure I'm going to get slated for this but the mot test should be the same for everybody, no quick tests for people who are known to look after their cars. Everything should be tested regardless. It has to be pass fail or advise for the system to work and have transparency for the next potential owner. If I've misunderstood the post then I apologise Harry

I use an MOT guy who only does MOT's. Only 1 fail in 20 years, but it deserved it for a rusty brake pipe. Didnt look too bad till. Pulled it out of the clip and it snapped. He gave me an advisory for a deteriorating wishbone bush telling me it was going to need doing once the winter was over. Middle of March, and a speed hump removed the rubber from the housing.

Hope your bushes turn up soon, thats a job you're going to enjoy.

No, you got the wrong end of the stick. Knowing me, knowing how my cars are maintained by me and the car itself - he better knows where to focus his attention. He knows he will not find anything obvious. I would not have it any other way, I like my cars to be 100%, no corners cut - he knows this and what would not even be worthy of an advisory, he points out to me verbally. I pointed out the bushes to him, for him to do a more thorough check upon and get his opinion. He said they were fine for the time being, hence the advisory.

I not one who relies on the MOT to point out any faults, it is maintained 100% year round.

They turned up Wednesday, but as time was tight and the job not easy without a lift or pit, I daren't attempt it, so I made arrangements for him to do it, or at least so I had thought.

I have used the same garage for many years, at least 25 years. When it goes in for mot he has got my phone number and tells me if anything is wrong and do I want him to do it. Only twice has he phoned me. Once for a leaking shocker that he had fitted 1 year ago for the mot, and he had replaced a blown bulb in the rear stop lamp. Of my 220sd.
