Perhaps the answer is to use some of the Brexit dividend to equalise prescription charges to zero in all regions...........oh wait.....................

The ultimate Strawman in that it’s a banned subject and it could be construed that the reason you guys introduced it is to get the thread closed. Thank you |

Did someone mention Brexit
I'm surprised this thread is still rumbling on. On a slightly different note how do you feel about the drink driving limits. https://www.gov.uk/drink-drive-limit In Scotland, quite rightly IMHO, we have a lower drink driving limit. Essentially one pint of lager can put you over the limit for driving meaning a ban etc etc etc. In England the limit is higher. It's not impossible for a person to have a pint with their dinner in England, get in their car quite legally and drive 10 minutes up the road and be pulled over by Police Scotland and find themselves in all sorts of trouble. The answer is simple. Don't drink and drive but the point remains that there are a number of different laws etc between the devolved nations. |

Trespass law is another one that springs to mind. Very different in England and Scotland.

Yes but the law I have to abide by is the Law of England and Wales. But as regards Rx’s the law become selective in that it is impossible to gain a free Rx illegally in Wales but not in England
Whilst I am a huge admirer of many aspects of Scottish Law - House purchase being one of them - where a service - such as the health services are “cross border” I don’t think it unreasonable to want commonality. |

I am pleased you have a devolved assembly - it’s the right thing. Where I as an Englishman have an issue is that when you pay a tax £ - you get back £1.10. When I pay a tax £ - I get back 97p. Your welsh assembly is quite within its rights to use some of this extra per capita funding to give free Rx’s to all. I am genuinely pleased that Wales, NI and Scotland chose to do this. To me it underscores the Free at the Point of Delivery principle of the NHS. But given the extra 13.4% per capita funding that Wales received compared to England in 2015/16 can you not see why the question is being asked as to why this has all lead to a criminal offence being created purely for England? Especially as we seem to be paying more and getting less? Last edited by Darcydog; 20th October 2018 at 10:13.. |
