Respect for the time and effort you've put in to get the little blighter out.
Hope the rebuild goes smoothly. Good Luck. Andy. |

I was thinking of you today while working on Mrs MB's Classicasseur.
When checking it over for the MOT and freeing off the rusted fasteners so I can drop the exhaust ready for fitting the new backbox, I detected play in the lower front arms. So the offside was done first, the pinch bolt was wasted to a 12mm A/F hex, the centre ball joint nut was FT, but after cracking the M14 bolts on the bushes.......three minutes Once I had the arm off, I looked at the bush I fitted four years ago, still perfect, and unbelievably still with traces of Renolit Red rubber grease used when I fitted them back in the day So with nothing to lose, I pressed them off the old arms without damage, and fitted them to the replacement arms. Bear in mind these are patchloc bolts originally, so don't slather them in coppaslip Brian |

No Andy, true to form it didn't go that smoothly Quote:
Finally finished, but it was a right ball ache to fit the new bush. The old one came off ok with a few taps of the hammer. Struggled like hell to get the new one on I must have lucked out on the nearside because that went on easily. After a lot of struggling to lever and drive it on I had to jack up the car to get the wishbone to move enough to line up the bolt holes. Eventually sorted it and tightened the bolts up. Whilst the car was up on the ramps I gave the gearbox a fluid change, well half of it anyway. I filled the sub-frame with cavity wax especially where I'd been using the blow torch, and also sprayed inside the cills with spray oil to try and preserve them. I had a little test drive and it all seems a lot better now, no more clunking A bit dark by the time I was finished so just need a wash and wax tomorrow and I'm all ready for driving to Disneyland on Sunday. |
