Default How to remove Tourer roof rail strips

I want to remove the strips that run front to back on the outside top of a tourer. I have the roof rail off but I don't want to damage the strip.

can I lever it up at one end and continue levering it up along its length?

found this but cant recall where

remove the roof rails and the fitting below.
prise up the metal strip, it is likely that some of the plastic fittings below will snap but the strip will be held in place by roof rail when reassembled
