Default Blanking EGR??

Should I blank the egr valve on my cdt? Has anyone on here done it? I've heard it's better for the engine?

Can you just blank it with a plate like on most engines? And what's the advantages?

You can blank it off in many ways but are still left with the internals of the egr restricting flow, that's why a by-pass is fitted. Whether it's a power up is still questionable amongst many members but once it's by-passed you don't have to clean it out

I can't afford a bypass kit. Think I'll just make a blanking plate

You cant blank it of. Either fit a bypass or take the vacuum pipe of the existing one and plug the pipe with a screw to disable it or clean the existing one.

You can blank it off. Loctite or spot weld a suitably sized object into the exhaust port of the EGR valve if you want to do this. No point in removing the vacuum pipe alone as it's required to hold the valve shut when you're on the accelerator.

I'd echo the above comments though, remove and fit a bypass. They are around £30 and definitely make a difference to the way the car drives, especially around town.

If I fit a bypass, will it make the engine light come on?
