Most Sony Tv's do not support bluetooth out unlike some of the Samsung sets however if your bluetooth speaker has a 3.5mm aux input then you could purchase a 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead and use the headphone socket from the Tv as your output source. It should work fine.

We have a sound bar but I still prefer head phones as they eliminate the acoustics from the room which can distort the sound.

PLUS-------You can go make a cup of tea and still listen to the program.--

Thanks Rogue, I am charging my bluetooth speaker and will try your method tomorrow. I wanted bluetooth to work on my Sony tv and Richer Sounds recommended a bluetooth sender using the optical port on my tv, it's what I use to listen to it. Thanks to everyone for the advice. John.

The bluetooth sender they mentioned will work but it can be a little tricky to pair for the first time... using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm lead will be cheaper and will just work... You may need to set the audio to headphone out in the audio menu though.

Can you not just put the wife on mute instead?
