I dont know if its actually been established that it is the gasket itself...
Some have supposedly found a solution in reinforcing the gasket..
but it may still be the entire assembly of the regulator which is at fault.

Mines not arrived yet but will keep you all informed.

To my ears it does sound like a metal plate vibrating - is this gasket actually a metal plate type gasket? In which case just altering its resonant frequency by the use of solder, or gasket goo etc. or even changing its dimensions a little will fix it.

Slight production variations in the gasket would explain why some get a lot of noise and others (like me) can barely hear it.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

this is the part on rimmers.
http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001726
But i imagine that it is the same as the new parts that have been fitted to the facelift models and this causes the problems.

It's also shockingly expensive.

but that shows that the part comes with a gasket...but it is not available seperately from them at least...

found this one on ebay that would be a suitable replacement.
They may be able to supply just a gasket? If we ask nicely...lol

I've replaced 2 HP regs on 2 different Cars in last 4 months.
Only new genuine type were used and no resonance noise from either of them .........so far !!

when you replaced these regs did you have to pressure down the fuel system or did you just remove them without doing anything else and did you remove the starter motor first
