We could do with finding someone in the North East who can repair to this standard . Both my sills have been patched but I fear that the rust is returning even after filling with waxoyl

Just to let you know,
I was asked if the inner sill is treated before it's all closed up, Tom tells me he treats the inner surfaces with Jenolite then paints with zinc primer, it sticks well and welds easy I'm told. http://www.tjhobbs.com/ |

Great thread and excellent workmanship by Tom, I think he may be busy with our cars in the future, what timescale does he need for this job to be carried out, I presume someone must have had all the jacking points done in one go ?

I only needed rears and I dropped off at midday, by 5pm one side was done, and by the same time the following day so was the other and painted. He only does matt black, though, like on the Cowley cars. With his facilities he doesn't feel he can do other colours justice.

I think people just get the paint done afterwards on the later ones. My black Mk2 will want doing eventually, but I feel Tom's workmanship is worth letting someone else paint it after. It's not like he leaves them bare, so you have time. I might even have a go at flashing it over myself. I did my first 75 that way, and no one noticed!
