Pure wax?

Is it still possible to get wax as it used to be? Like Simonize in the yellow tin we all had years ago. Old fashioned I may be, but have never found a better finish than that gave me. My first car was a Daimler Sovereign 4.2 Vanden Plas Double six and was treated like a baby. It was 'Regency Red' (burgundy)with a cream leather interior and a black vinyl roof. I polished that within an inch of it's life and it looked fantastic! Hard work though the wax was, I think it was worth it. So where can I get REAL wax?????????

I'm no chemist, but it sounds like P21S or Harly wax would be about what you're after. AFAIK they don't have any polishing abrasives or any of that stuff.

I've used P21S in the past and it was very nice, and I'm working through a tin of Harly stuff at the mo. The latter comes in great big tins, so is probably slightly better value.

Poorboys Nattys Paste Wax smells good enough to eat! Results are pretty fantastic too!

I am currently using the liquid version of this wax, and it really is good. By the way, I really love the design on that tin. I had some about 25 years ago and it hasn't changed a bit so far as i can recall.

It's called "Simoniz Original" car wax and is available in traditional form and liquid form. Halfords sell the liquid variant, and for the traditional version, here is the link I meant to include last time around: http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Simoniz.html

P21S is definitely the one to go for. I used simoniz in the past and liked it too but the P21S is easier to remove and seems to last a little longer.

I use Carlack-68 as a base coat. Its an updated version of Klasse All In One and lays down an acrylic sealant layer. This combination will give you excellent results especially on darker colours.

carnauba is the constituent - so you want to look for the highest % you can get. Xymol is probably £100 a tub, and is very pure. I found some cheap stuff on Ebay for about £10 and was very happy... as long as it is quite paste-like in the tub you'll get a good result. Cream (and worse, liquid) is probably lower percentage carnauba.
