Default Does the mk 2 have a tighter steering circle?

I owned a mk1 tourer between 2002 and 2005 (a brand spanker), the only criticism I ever had was that I often wished its turning circle was tighter, I did over 1000 miles per week for 3 years and loved it
I have just bought a MK2 facelift tourer (diont think it looks "quite" as good) but I find the turning circle in this one really good
Am I imagining this or did Rover indeeed improve the steering setup on the mk2?

There are two steering racks listed at Rimmers, an up to 2004 part and a from 2004 part, the actual difference? Who knows?

I believe that Mk2 75 uses a ZT steering rack, which is a bit 'quicker'.

I knew I wasn't imagining it, I have a 2000 saloon and a 2005 tourer, the mk2 has a noticeably tighter turning circle, much better actually, so at least something was improved in the later models :-)

Quicker doesn't mean tighter (ie: Tighter would mean smaller diameter of the turning circle but it may give the illusion of being tighter)

Have you checked the gap between the front wheel on full lock, and the body part that it is nearest to? My guess is that it is the same for all models.Of course if you fit a wheel that has got a bigger offset during manufacture, this would give more 'turning circle'.

I have to agree.
The ZT had a different steering ratio to be more responsive. (ie. less steering wheel turns from lock to lock).
I am pretty certain that on the Mark 2 Rover 75s they standardised the rack across the range, so the later Rover 75s were fitted with the same rack as a ZT.

Hi.
There's less turns from lock to lock on the later racks, turning circle is the same AFAIK.
