Default Normal Running Temperature for KV6

Whats the normal 'motorway speed' temperature for a KV6?

I think i have a sticking thermostat on my 190 because its running too cold I think. On a long trip back home last night on the motorway, I noticed the temp gauge dip a little below the half way mark when on longer downhill stretches of the motorway. Pulled over in services and set the IPK diagnostics to temp reading and monitored that all the way home. Steady 70mph was showing between 77- 80 so i think its too low. I would assume it should be higher?

Thanks,
Simon.

Hi Simon.
I would think it should be 91-92 that is what mine runs at, it reaches this after about a mile easy.

Hopefully Simon ( SD1too )will jump on and give you the true up and downs on the temp Arctic

I'd suggest the thermostat is faulty. It should start opening at around 88C. Typical running temperatures for all the petrol engines is about 90-95C all year round

I don't think I need to Steve! I agree entirely with what you, T-Cut and Stubie have said: good advice all round.

Hi.
Mine originally was cool, between 72-80. The first new thermostat, 91-93c it then rose to 96-99c and eventually failed. Second new thermostat (NOS) was 90-93c lasted just over a week and cracked.
Latest new thermostat 87-89c not been above 93 yet in traffic.
My personal feeling the engine feels smoother when around the high 80's, definitely not as smooth with it running at 97-99c. Also could be sore on the seals at this continual temperature.

Thanks for the replies, I'll order a new stat and pipes, this particular one lasted about 80k so not too bad I suppose.
