Ok,
I have gone just about as far as I can go on this and still no result (start)
I have arranged for the Rover to be collected and taken to Mark at
MJN Motors near Bristol for a T4 diagnostic and hopefully repaired.
I will let you all know what the problem was so that it might be of help to
another club member should they be unfortunate enough to experience
identical symptoms.(the car not them). Thank you for all the advice.
Barry.

Following this with interest as had a similar problem.
In my case the KV6 just died and won't restart. Unlikely to be the fuel filter (orange clip) as it's an early car. I can hear the pump priming as normal, have yet to check for pressure at the Schrader valve.

Default V6 connie alive and purring

OK,
My 75 is now back with me and purring like a contented cat, so, what was the problem in the end ??
Those who have been reading the thread will know that I had replaced or checked everything that had been suggested by members and still the engine would refuse to start. Also remember that there was not a trace of fuel at the check valve. I humbly admit that those of you who pointed to the fuel filter and pressure regulator where correct. The T4 diagnostic showed low fuel pressure as well as VIS motors circuit fault although the latter proved to be unconnected with the actual problem. Checking the filter module showed pressure to, but not from the unit and a strip confirmed that the large seal had failed despite me replacing it. It would appear that excess pressure had caused the failure and the complete unit was replaced with a second hand assembly which is functioning perfectly. I believe that the system is regulated at 52psi but in this instance something had caused the excess pressure to damage the seal. Thank you to all who have contributed to this thread.
For your information, MJN Motors, 16 Emery Road, Brislington, Bristol have full T4 diagnostics and I highly recommend them.
Barry.

I hope the second-hand filter unit had the FOC (Fabled Orange Clip) in place?

Thanks for letting us know the happy outcome Barry and aren't you glad that you changed your mind about selling? It was a cheap and simple repair in the end but required determination to solve so you should congratulate yourself on that.
