Default Airbag Light

This old Chesnut again, The airbag light will not go off,I have unplugged and used contact cleaner, No good. I have hard wired the plugs, No Good..The light will go out when the engine is started but will come on after about 10 seconds.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be, I have heard that there are rear seat pre-tensioners which have plug and socket connectors that can give the same problem, This is 2000 2.0 litre petrol saloon Cowley built the car.

75s were sold in France weren't they John so surely there must be some hiding away somewhere. Have you been in touch with Scoubix? Or alternatively, come over to the UK for a long weekend.

Toaf can read airbag faults on the early cars - recently diagnosed one myself. Worth the effort to get Toaf up and running and have your own means of diagnostic help.

I think they mean the unit under the parcel shelf that the seatbelt sits in. I had to change the middle one recently and there is a yellow wire which connects to the belt holder.

With sunroof or not? if yes then is could be corrosion on the sensor under the carpet.

If the carpets have been wet in the past for any reason then the impact sensors
could be the problem, but to look at them you need to remove the seats and the lower seatbelt mounting bolt to enable the carpet to be peeled back.

Yours will be the green ones on the left in Artic's picture above, if the metal backing is covered in white corrosion then it's likely to have got water ingress and suspect. Markypicks one was exactly like this

In a worse case scenario it could also be the SRS ECU or the power supply to it
