Default ZT-T saved from banger racing

I have been here a while but dont tend to post much so thought id just pop this one on here as I am very pleased with it.
I am getting annoyed at the amount of cars being broken these days so I have been trying to save a few. I recently resurrected a typhoon after rebuilding the complete rear suspension on it and it has now found a new home (just waiting collection)
I do have a mk2 LWB in starlight silver arriving tomorrow and a poverty spec zt amongst the collection and I am still looking for a pre production and a primrose car for myself.
ANYWAY.......

I bought this the other day from a guy who had stripped it out for Banger racing and thanks to Covid the season was cancelled. I gave him £300 for it.
There is not a mark on the paintwork and the now refitted interior is very clean too. its a V6 and I have service history with it, only 71k miles on the clock.
It will be going for timing belts sometime this month and be back on the road.

They look really nice in British Racing Green in my opinion. My Dad has had his for 12 years. It has done some miles and is sporting some battle scars, but I'm also in the process of rebuilding the rear suspension after a broken rear spring caused it to fail it's MOT.

Great to see people trying to keep these going. Not getting any easier.

No its not getting any easier and its a shame that they are still worth more in parts than as complete cars.

Well done mark-h, you're a credit to the club
As you say, far too many cars are being scrapped, but I guess there are just too many examples left at the moment against the number of people that want them.

At best, a breaker can at least provide a good source of spares to keep others on the road, but it'd certainly be a waste to see one end it's days on the banger track...

Good luck with it

Trying to get hold of new parts for restoring these is tricky. I managed to buy new fail-safe washers (KHV100020) and captive nuts (KYH100330) when I did my Trophy blue ZT-T rear suspension, but they're not currently available.

Wow well saved.

Far too good for Banger racing but I suppose the previous owner either traded it on or got rid because no one wanted it.

Take a bow that man
