steering rack..replace or refurbish?
steering rack is a likely fail in nxt mot...should i replace or refurbish pls folks?...I tried calling JayGee Hydraulics but they went into liquidation 2 yrs ago apparently

I was pointed in the direction of Kiley-Clinton by a member here.
https://steering-racks.co.uk/ Not the cheapest. I believe it came in around £175 including return carriage and VAT. Not the quickest either. Seemed to take them 3 times longer than the quoted time, however they were friendly and no problems to report 3 months in. I provided a rack for refurb which I purchased from Andy (Trikey). |

I will second Kiley Clinton. I have been using them for years and have never had a problem.
Agree on the time factor but if you tell them it is urgent for what ever reason you want to come up with they can turn them around in a couple of days. |

thanks for that...so it looks like i buy a replacement,well in advance of the mot, send that off for refurb and present it at mot...makes sense...pricey it is...but hey

is it leaking or have the inner ball joint(s) gone (excessive play), the latter is the usual fault and can be remedied easily and cheaply.

leaking aparently...tho ive not seen it myself...was an advisory last mot...am wondering if i should pre mot so i have time to fix?..hmm...not had this before on any previous motor...
