Thanks Jeff.
It's so far off the beaten track that there's only ever a handful of people there. Makes it perfect for landscapes.

A couple of weeks ago, I finally took the plunge and purchased a wide angle lens.
After much umming and ahhing and surely driving the guy in the shop mad, I settled on a Tamron SP 15-30 f2.8.

I'm really impressed with it and am really looking forward to getting to grips with it properly.

Here's a few images from the last couple of weeks:

Hey all, hope you're all doing well....

So, recently, I've started experimenting with other things. One being Milky Way photography, and the other being birds....
I have in the last year, purchased two new lenses. One being a wide angle Tamron and the other being a Sigma Telephoto....

Here's a selection...

This one was taken up a mountain in Rhondda.
I was able to plan for this, as it was a weekend. I had a great night and was astonished by what I was seeing on the back of the camera.
Editing proved to be tricky, but I think I got there in the end..
I learned that my composition was way off. I should have had the camera aiming a little more to the right and possibly, less obstructions on the horizon...

The next day, I tried again. But owing to it being a work night, I couldn't go too far. So ventured to a nearby beach instead.
I accepted that there would be lots of light pollution, but it was either here, or nowhere...

I actually really like this lens. It's my new walkaround lens and I can't see a use for my 24-70F4L lens now. As primarily, I shoot landscapes..
Here's a couple of daylight shots:

Southerndown, Wales... by Philip Davies, on Flickr
Of course, the downside of being wide angle, is if you don't hold the camera at the right height/angle you need to do heavy adjustment of distortion, resulting in lots of cropping....

Now a few birds from my Telephoto...

I "think" it's a Swallow... Taken at Dryslwyn Castle, Wales... by Philip Davies, on Flickr
Sparrow?! Bird in Wales... by Philip Davies, on Flickr
Some kind of bird... Any suggestions?? I'm thinking European Stonechat... by Philip Davies, on Flickr
I've absolutely no idea what this is.... Maybe a European Stonechat?! by Philip Davies, on Flickr
Red Kite, seen from Castell y Drysllwyn, Cymru/Wales... by Philip Davies, on Flickr

Any identification with the birds would be helpful. The Sparrow and the Red Kite I know, but the others I'm not sure!

Cheers
