Default Mk2 boot release from key

I have found lately that sometimes when I press and hold the unlock button on the key the boot lock will sound as though it's unlocking several times in quick succession. When this happens the boot will not close again until I have pressed and held the unlock button again. I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and whether there is a remedy?

common issue, its known as the boot lock "machine gunning"

Not sure what the fix is, might be as simple as spraying some wd40 into the lock, if you do a search for "boot lock machine gunning" theres plenty of info on it on here already

turn the rubber stops on the boot lid, a quarter or half turn is normally all it takes

See, this is why I love this forum; mine did this 'machine gunning' thing this morning.

Wondered what it was, now I know! :-)

You often find "machine gunning" appears along with the colder weather. I'll probably have to adjust the stops on my 1.8T soon, doesn't seem to affect the 260.

Many thanks for the replies; do I need to turn the stops so that they're further out or further in?
