Definitely a 22?!

Someone else on another thread said 21mm, and this is a pain in the bum to find locally, but I'm sure I have a 22.

Only other this is can the main gasket that the pump mounts with be re-used, or should I purchase new?

THanks for all your help, hopefully will have my car back before the end of the weekend.

Hi Ross.
While in the shed looking at something else I decided to check the HFP I have, this is what I found below 22mm & 21mm are to big yet when I tried a 21mm shock socket on it that seems to fit ok ? so it could well be a 20mm, someone maybe able to convert it better than me, couple of charts below

0.787 20mm 20mm 0.813 13/16 AF 0.820 7/16 Wworth; 1/2 BSF 0.826 21mm 21mm 0.866 22mm 22mm 0.875 7/8 AF http://www.dummett.net/ime/website/i...ner_sizes.html

Ok nearly done. Everyones help has been amazing, saved myself a fortune if this works!

So much for diesel pumps needing to be ultra clean, corrosion around those little connector pipes and one was stuck in solid to one of the heads.

Made a little mark on the end of one getting it out, but from what I can see the sealing surface is the inside tube section, so should be ok!

Just one thing though.

Did anyone take off that big black plate on the end where the shaft comes out?

I have two big green seals left, that I imagine go inside there. Should I bother?

I cant seem to get that black bit off at all.

Hi Ross.
Do you mean this part below if so looks to be three screws holding it on weather to change the seals or not I don't know but if you have changed all the other why not.

Yeah thats the bit.

Gave up with that in the end, it would not budge and I was not about to start levering and damaging it with a screwdriver.

The service guys must have pullers or a tool to remove it properly.

Pump back on and working fine thankfully.

I used a genuine Bosch Service kit and another for the regulator also.

Kits are the following part numbers for reference for anybody else:-

Main pump seal kit : F 01M 101 454
Regulator seal kit : F 00R 0P1 466 and F 00V D38 011

All genuine Bosch, and from a really nice chap from Breedon and Gell down south. All in was about £23 or so for the lot. Certainly is a MUCH better option than messing with super expensive reconditioned pumps, and also better than getting an ebay kit and having it fail later. At least with the genuine stuff you know its going to work and stay working! After all, the original seals managed 160k miles....

Hopefully someone can add the Seal kits to a sticky, as well as the supplier, he really was very helpful and the price was great.

Car starting after priming it by turning the ignition key on and letting the low pressure pump do its work, then a couple of cranks later she fired into life and was happy.

There really is nothing to wear on the inside of these pumps if they are lubricated with diesel their whole lives, so the seal kit for me is the perfect way forward. Many thanks to everyone.

Also anyone else doing this, turn your regulator 180deg so you can access the clip mechanism from above, the regulator plug is super tight, and mine was on facing downwards so could only gently lever the latch up when the HP Pump was coming out.
