Default webasto heater

I have recently discovered my 75 has the diesel powered heater . How is this operated ,does it just come on when i crank the temperature up on my climate control ? I cant see any seperate controls for it. And also could i remove it without any adverse affects, as id rather not use its costly heat! And would rather sell it. Cheers

If it's working, it will fire up automatically only when the engine is running and the temperature is 5 degrees or colder. For the diesel in the colder weather it's a god send, as they take an age to warm up otherwise.

You can add remotes / timers so you can warm it up prior to setting out in the morning...very civilized

I'd keep it. It uses a miniscule amount of fuel, and only when ambient is below 5C anyway. It switches off as soon as the engine is warm enough.

I'm in the process of fitting one having had a diesel without this feature and been very cold in the mornings!

If you really want to not have it, I'd simply disable it, not remove. Then if you change your mind you can just plug it back in.

i may give it a chance this winter! see if i grow to like it. I can just see £200 sat there, which i could get a synergy 2 with. Who needs fuel fired heaters when youve got the warmth of adrenaline!

Mmm. £200. Paid less than that for a brand new one. And you'd need to buy some new coolant pipes too.

Willster...Bear in mind that its an Engine heater, not a cabin heater. Operation controlled by the outside temperature (5 degrees )and has nothing to do with the climate control . The diesels are so efficient they take a long time to come to optimum operating temperature. But obviously when the engines hot, the cabin gets the benefit too .
