Diesels can produce the old eggy smell, had a ZT on the dyno that did it after a couple of runs (along with sparks). Imagine years of gentle driving had caused a bit of a build up that a good hard power run managed to burn off.

Hi. We've checked most of these but still not got to the bottom of the excessive diesely smells.. one thing i have seen though , I checked the injector readings with TOAF and one of them had a correction factor of over 4%.. i'm sure i read somewhere that if it's over 2% then that is a problem? I'm not sure if that would cause excessive diesel smells though?

Sorry for the thread revival but did the op find a solution to this problem as I have this exact same issue, I have a strong smell of burnt diesel (sooty) inside and out of the car and it’s driving me mad and can’t be safe to drive in either.

Can anyone help please, I’m a little desperate.

Thanks in advance

when I had this problem, a new fuel filter filled with diesel injector cleared a sooty exhaust and diesel stink
