Failed MOT
Well I took her for the MOT this morning and she failed.
Now if anyone has seen any of my previous posts I had a lot of trouble with a garage fitting new front wheel bearings and as a result the ABS light and speedo didn't work, yet still managed to pass the MOT Well she has just failed on both front lower suspension arms with excessive play. They were both in a terrible state and they were only fitted about 16 months ago. The so called mechanic told me that it's normal for ball joints to fail in such time I asked if I look like a muppet and that is was due to their work that they are ********. His reply Bad luck I could have Done him some real harm I was so angry. so I now need to replace both lower front arms ASAP. Rimmers are quite expensive, any suggestions as to where I can get them cheaper and quickly. Thanks for letting me have a little Gary.

Sorry can't with info on the front arms but I have also had to deal with cowboys with some of my local garages here. I have quite a list of those I will never visit again. If I was in your position I would be phoning up garages in the area and get quotes. Good luck.

Thanks Alan.
I also have a list, but I took it to them for the reason that I susspected that they might have done something to the front with all the messing about with the bearings and that they might as a good will gesture do something about it at a reasonable cost. I am trying to find somewhere now as the amount of play is quite severe.

Well I have booked her in for Monday with a different garage. One from the good garage scheme with good reviews. Royle Motors (co owned by Ricky Tomlinson) to get the lower arms done and MOT. They have quoted £378 inc vat.
Let's hope they do the job properly. Will post The news good or bad.

I have now got a shiny new MOT.
Royle Motors in Speke Liverpool, very friendly and helpful and did a great job in getting the front lower wishbone quickly and fitted them without fuss. They did say that it looked to them that the old ones were not seated correctly when they had been refitted after the wheel bearing saga at the other garage. Thanks for the support and help from the club. Gary.

Bodge Monkeys
It's very scary when Cowboys are working on your suspension & brakes!!!
It's about time Automotive work was regulated like Domestic Gas and Electrical work is (Corgy approved etc) I'm amazed the Government haven't cottoned onto this yet as there doesn't seem to be a shortage of "BODGE MONKEYS" about running Garages.

Oh and once again thanks for the very good work you did for me the stat is working great (needle sitting at half way) fuel consumption seems to be loads better (havn't done brim to brim yet) and the air con is nice and chilly. If only there were more people like your good self who care about the cars they work on then this thread would be unnecessary.
