Default Lumpy Jumpy KV6 2.0

Hi all.

This problem doesn't want to go away. I've posted up on another thread about the VIS troubles I've been having.
Replacing the VIS actuator units made a massive difference but still the jumpy accelerating comes and goes.
At times it's fine and other times not so fine. Sometime it vibrates quite bad, when sat in and also looking at under the bonnet.

When idle the revs drop ever so slight, vibration can be felt then revs go back to where they were.

At first I thought the valves were a bit sticky so shot some carb cleaner in there and it seemed to work for a day or 2. Don't know if it was a coincidence.

Any ideas?

Or if you are coming to Haynes meet we can scan it with my Sykes unit.

What is a T4?

I've not made plans for the meet, although I have considered. I'm some what shy with such things.
I don't know how serious (or not) this problem is I have. I'm keeping mileage to a minimum until I know.

tomorrow I will try unplugging the MAF sensor to see if it makes a difference.

MAF sensor you wont have, being a petrol. You will have a similar thing (I forget what it's called) but it's intergral to the fuel injection system. I dont think unplugging it is wise.

Have you looked at the throttle body closley, perhaps looking at the return spring for the throttle cable, the cable itself and the route it takes from pedal to engine.

Have you checked alll the bolts holding the engine in place too?

T4 is the MGR-specified diagnostic system used by dealerships and garages. It's specific to Rover/MG's/Landrover family of vehicles and gives very detailed information along with allowing the garage to setup/alter car settings. If T4 shows up a fault code then it could narrow down what is possibly wrong.

Ok, not best to look for a MAF then. I think it was the IAT or MAP sensor I was thinking of but as you said, it's probably not best to mess with those

I'll give the engine mount bolts a look over as well as the throttle body.

Car seems to have fixed itself! For the time being anyway.
I started my 6 mile journey that I driver everyday with a lumpy accelerating and by the time I finish it was fine. The rev needle sat steady and not bouncing.

Don't know what exactly is going on but I hope it stays well now.

I was thinking of using one as a donor to get the other one working for an emergency spare (one of the switches is completely crushed in on one).

If you have a better idea for them that may benefit the club I would consider giving them away.
