Lightbulb Lights out!

I always thought my "Trafficmaster" screen was just a hangover from an old navigation system that is no longer in existence...

Then tonight, on starting my car and switching on the lights, a big orange representation of a bulb showed up on the screen! When I stopped the car, it informed me that a dipped light bulb was out! How cool is that!

My pleasure at having such a smart car dimmed somewhat after I read the procedure to replace the bulb in my Haynes manual. I'm not very good at car DIY, might need to get some help for this... Should I replace both dipped bulbs as a precaution, and is there a recommended bulb to go for?

All right, decided to replace all main beam headlight and dipped beam bulbs, as a precaution.

Ordered OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited H1 and GT Ultra 120 H7 - BUY ONE GET ONE FREE! from Powerbulbs (they have a 20% discount offer on at the moment). I hope the H1 are the correct fitting, I nearly went with H9, after reading dozens of threads on this forum, but H9 was not an option Powerbulbs gave, recommending H1 for my vehicle.

Halfords quoted me at over £8+ per bulb for fitting the dipped beam bulbs, not asked for a main beam quote, probably another £8 per bulb...at those prices, I will probably ask Chris at Tayport to help me out, as he did such a fine job for me on other repairs. After all, what's a 100 mile road trip to a diesel Tourer!

Depending on which lights you have.......
Halogen reflectors Main beam H1 Dipped H7
Projectors.......Main H9 Dipped H7
Xenon projectors.........Main H9 Dipped D2S
Never had any problems fitting any bulb, apart from xenons which are light removal
