Thumbs up First lpg fill up report

Filled my lpg tank this morning and calculated that for my first tankful I returned 22mpg. This was almost all town and short journeys. This is down from around 26-28 under petrol. My journey to Plymouth returned 32mpg and was mostly dual carrageway. Of course the saving is in the cost of that tankful. That works out to be £2.68 per gallon as opposed to £5.46 for petrol.
The per mile running cost is now £0.12p per mile and under petrol (taking into account the better mpg) it was £0.20p per mile.
I will probably do about 13,000 miles this year which would cost me £2628 in petrol or £1583 in lpg (at current prices). The difference is pretty much what I paid for the conversion.
Hope this all makes sense and is on interest to anyone thinking of converting.

Have you noticed any difference in performance at all?

I've been considering an LPG conversion for years now. The more I hear about it from people, the more tempting it is. One day....

And the big question from me is, why aren't all new cars made to run soley on LPG? Then phase Petrol & diesel out altogether???
Or have i missed something?

Agree our LPG for heating jumps in price monthly! We are now paying double what we were 2 years ago!! as soon as enough cars have been converted BANG you'll be taxed the same as petrol & diesel.

LPG is a waste product left of Petrol and diesel production.
No Petrol or diesel No LPG.

There are not really enough garages kitted out for lpg to make it worthwhile being the same price as petrol. Thats also why more people have not converted. I happen to have lpg garages within 1 mile of each end of my most common journey (to work). The people that will save the most are the early converters. Personally I think (hope:lol it will be years before its the same price, if ever. It only needs to stay at this difference for a year and it will have paid for itself, every day after that is money in the bank

I guess you could go back maybe 20yrs and say the same about Diesel. I bet we can all remamber those days when a garage sold 2, 3, and 4 star petrol. No Unleaded and no diesel.

I guess you will enjoy many more years of cheap LPG stevemac as garages will be waiting to see what is going to power the car of the future before any major investment.
