Spot on with "rubber" pipes.
I replaced all the rubber pipes on my Mini a couple of years ago. The only one I didn't replace was the one coming out of my fuel tank.
Two years on, I had to replace them again. They had cracked, but luckily not leaking.
The one I had left is still on!
Modern "rubber" is rubbish. It sort of goes brittle, almost plastic like.
Not sure if it's the ethanol or if it's just rubbish rubber.

Interesting thread as I took my cdti off the road in late June to do a fair few bits of outstanding upgrades - a/c condenser, fan, total coolant swap, working FBH, brake pipes, exhaust back box etc. and what with other things I only got round to finishing all this early September.

So the 1/4 tank in June stayed as is for just over 3 months.

When I ran her after that she seemed very flat. All sorted after putting £40 of diesel in and taking her for a blast down the A31 then back over the Forest.

I did wonder if the fuel left in had gone “off” a bit? - I would have expected it with petrol, but I didn’t expect it with diesel. All very subjective of course - runs lovely now tho!

I read something only the other day about this. Apparently most oil companies state that diesel fuel should be used within 6 months.
