So you don’t mind if your car is stolen and not insured? Sounds like a car stealing criminals best friend to me.

I swapped the metal key "blade" over yesterday into a new case I bought off flea-bay.

I did think about taking a few photo's of what I did to remove it, but thought that my method may have been a bit brutal.

I tried the boiling water method, several times, and came to the conclusion that my blade may have been glued in.

So, I have a multi-Dremel type tool. It's made by "Silver-hook" a poor mans version, but works pretty good!
I used this to chop the blade out of the old housing, but I was VERY carful to leave some of the plastic around the blade the same shape as the new housing.

I took my time, cut once measure thrice technique, and it slotted home in it's new home very snugly.
I then gave it a blob of Evo-stick just to make sure it wouldn't pop out!

I believe if the transponder is still by the ring, the car thinks the key is still in the ign and the remote central locking will not allow the car to lock.

My blades were also glued into the blocks. New cases with blocks from the bay & the old Valeo backs retained.

Otherwise cut with a hacksaw, or craft-knife the softer keyfob plastic around the blade holder which is harder plastic.

Don't bother trying to remove the transponder chip, just work on the upper part of the keyfob and retain the other half, as the back (which holds the transponder chip) is probably Valeo, then it's better quality than any new one.

As above use the back off the original key that holds the transponder, couple of photo's below, showing how the original back as two little clips holding the transponder into the back case of the key fob, whereas the new fobs do not have these so a little bit of blue tack, or model air craft sealant will do.

You cannot place the transponder in range of the ignition

If you do, the car cannot be locked, as it "sees" the key in the ignition

You don't state the reason behind your desire to do this, however I suspect it is because you only have one key perhaps

The best way around this is to have another transponder programmed.......you can have this done if you are prepared to travel interstate to Victoria, or post your immobiliser to have the work carried out.

The person is also a club member here, and possesses the necessary equipment to do the job

If you need to know more, drop me a PM with some details, and I'll put you in touch.

I do have two functioning keys, guess a 3rd or 4th wouldn't hurt. If I'm ever in Victoria, I'll consider it.
