Default car recall

Built: 27/10/1999 - 20/02/2002There is a possibility that the if a front road spring failed at the lower end, it could contact and damage the tyre. VINs: RJ133300********* to RJ247257*********.

i know that mg are no more but is there anyway of ensuring its been done and if not can it still be done

Spring protectors are still available at Rimmers for under a fiver a pair + postage when I got mine earlier this year. Five min job to fit just take wheel off and fit with the two bolts provided into the existing holes in the strut.

Instructions come with them.

Look a the base of the front spring. If you can actually see the end of the spring than it has no spring protector and if the spring ever snaps it could go into the tyre.

Cannot remember part number sorry Prits

This happened to me this summer... lucky for me I was only doing a 3 point turn at the time and not travelling at speed. The spring was tight against the tyre wall. Car had to be towed to the garage to be fixed. Now all 4 springs been done because a rear one broke last year!!!

oh, mine is 2002 build.

As stated on the similar threads on the same subject don't ***** about dithering just buy a set and fit them regardless of the Vin number you will feel a lot safer in the knowledge if the worst happens the car will not throw you into oncoming traffic or a hedge.

Springs break for all sorts of reasons

Does this apply to 75s and ZTs as well? Don't they have different suspension setups?

Hi keith...long time no see!

I am probably wrong here but I thought the recall only affected the 75....is there a way of knowing for sure? was the recal model specific?

Regards
Jamie
