Replacement rear wheel bearing question
Hi
Car in today for rear n/s wheel bearing. Trying a new garage and they are not sure if a bearing can be replaced without replacing the hub. If it is the hub as well it will be about £250. I have told them to go ahead. I can't find my old receipt for the bearing that was done over a year ago (o/s). I'm sure it didn't cost that much. Can anyone on here advise if bearings only can be replaced without hub?

The bearing also contains the pick up for the ABS system, and come ready assembled onto the hub.
I should imagine suitable bearings should be available to replace those in the hub, the problem would be in fitting it correctly so that the ABS system works properly, not the kind of thing to take a chance on really Hope the £250 includes fitting, not sure on X-Part prices, but aftermarket hub and bearing around £64. Hi Russ
Yes that was everything including vat. They have said that is worst case... I read on another thread that the cost was £135 all in. I just don't want to be ripped off if they have no need to replace the hub ......

Pick the car up and the bearings are housed in the hub. £237.33 inc vat.
I only hope I can go 6mts without more failures <fingers crossed>
