Default Rear suspension creak

Hi all,

The rear of my car creaks when i get out/in when the handbrake is applied - its doesn't when the handbrake isn't on so its not suspension related. How can it be fixed?

Thanks

Rob

Rob,

This is a well known issue. The 'creak' is caused by a build up of dust and other **** in the handbrake drum part of the rear disc. Disc off, good clean out of the drum section and the creak will go away.

Checked my car yesterday and it creaks too, and only when the handbrake is on.

What is the best way to clean the drum.
I will be replacing the rear discs and pads soon, so I could do it then so any advice would be welcome, thanks

The 'drum' is part of the rear disc so if you are changing the discs for new then noise will disappear.
