Default DVB-T... what do I need?

Hi all

I have purchased a TV with freeview DVB-T but after plugging it in it says that there is no signal. Do I need a special aerial for this. I foolishly thought I could plug the normal aerial into it, but it seems not.

What do I need to get the freeview?

Regards
Alan

Have you checked that freeview is available in your area if not check with this link: http://www.freeview.co.uk/availability

If you have done this and there is still no signal then double check through the set up menu and try another channel search.

If this still comes up with no signal, then it could be that your aeriel has not enough gain to pick up the signals. You would then have to replace yours with a suitable one. It could be that there is a poor connection to your aeriel lead this can often cause enough signal loss to prevent the freeview signal being recieved .

Are the analog signals being recieved O.K.?

Freeview is on the UHF frequency but you won't be able to pick it up on a normal terrestrial aerial you will need a hi-gain one designed for digital, not cheap.

Hi Russ

I've checked the link and it says I should be able to pick up some freeview channels now. Yes, it does pick up normal analog signals ok and auto tunes them in. Its just when I press the DVB-T button it says no signal. Looks like it could be the aerial.

No,he is coverd by the Sutton Coalfield Transmiter for digital so he should get freeview, i know i can get it in my wagon when parked in Derby.

If the aerial is more then 7-8 years old it need changing and there are a few good digital ones for caravans, i have one on top of my cab

I ment to add , if its for the caravan you will need to redo the channel scan every time move away from the home transmiter, this can be a pain
