Default aarrghhh!! i found loads of rust!!!

while my car is off the road until i can afford the head gasket replacement .
i have decided to attend to the rust bubbles that have started to appear on the driver's side sill.i've prepared the two large bubbles on the visible part of the sill and decided to take a closer look at the uderside of the sill.what i found was a bit of a shock.quite a bit of the factory rust treatment was peeling off .underneath where it's lifted , lots of rust and a hole through the sill (not one of the drain holes or jackingpoints).
i wonder if mine will be one of the first that will need some welding done for the M.O.T.!!
also the rear wheel arch edge is starting to bubble up along nearly all of it!!
i am wondering why the drivers side when there is not a bubble of rust to be seen anywhere else on the car!!

Probably the same reason on my old van, salt gritters in the winter, full broadsides on the way to work !! My poor old van had rust on the sills, wings and wheel arches. ALL on the driver's side.

I have never seen any sign of rust on a 75 before. I thought it would never happen.

How old is the car?

I've seen a few older ones begining to rust now. We had one in at work few months back. Rust was bubbling out all around the chrome coachline trim on the passenger rear quater. That was an X plate

My 2000 has a rust bubble above the rear O/S arch, thankfully it can be sorted easily...

Although i dont have any rust at the moment what i do as a preventative
measure with the wheel arches is clean out all the muck that gathers
there and believe me there's a fair amount and when wet it holds the
dampness against the inner side of the wheel arch for ages which must be
one of the main causes of rust in that area
Best regards

I found quite a bit of rust on the rear doors where the wires for the electric windows go in. No idea why this would happen as there is no other rust on the car. Going to sort it out this weekend. This is in a w plate car. Blooby annoying as the N reg rover 200 that I replaced didn't have a single spot of rust.
