I would be seeking legal advice on this. If the letter is stating the incident took place in March 08, surely the car was registered in someone elses name by then. Their claim should stop if you can prove when you sold the car.

A shame you didn't have legal cover on your policy.. or do you?

This compo culture sickens me. When I was hit from behind and wrote the other car off... I didn't get out hobbling all over the place and in agony. I was just pleased everyone was ok, and the guy who hit me was very genuine.

Be VERY careful here.

He can easily get a legal team to seek compensation YEARS after the event.

Mate I don't for a second (No offence, honest) beleive that your memory is that bad, 3 cars since, 3 different insurances, can't remember index etc etc etc.

All the information is freely available from DVLA as to who the vehicle was registered to, and the insurance database can be checked etc etc etc.

Bottom line chap, get some legal advice like the others have said but you know whats coming don't you? The inevitable injury claim.

Did police attend the scene and fill out an accident book as it was a personal injury? Did he call police etc? These are all factors that need considering. If police did attend remember that they can give their opinion at an insurance hearing

hth,

Mart

Sadly as you drive a car and he rides a bike you will probably lose.

Sorry, but that is generally how it goes - the Motorist is always the bad guy.
