Default rover 75 cdt 2000 (w) dashboard lights

hi there, i have lost the dashboard illumination on my car, (the lights that illuminate the fuel and temp guages and the speedo and tach + the clock) can anyone tell me if this is easy to sort out? do these cars have bulbs in the instrument unit like older cars or is it more complicated than that.

HELP!!!!!

thanks

Welcome Chief

Is that all illumination gone? from the radio too? Also, if you twiddle the dash illumination dial next to the light switch does that affect anything in any way at all?

hi,
radio illumination still works, if i turn the dashlight dimmer switch then the part of the display at the bottom housing the service indicator and the milometer ect still goes dim or bright but i have no illumination for the main dials. at the same time that this problem occured initially the driver side headlamp stayed in the down position and would not move although the pasenger side responded as normal to the electric adjuster, however after a few days this resolved itself and both lamps now respond to the electric adjuster, but i still have not got the dash lights working.

It does seem to point to the LSM - the Lights Switch Module (althouth it is odd that the radio/ mileage indicators work). Have you tried reseating the connector on the backof the LSM?

Looks like there is one output from the LSM to drive all instrument lighting including the radio.... Output from LSM connector C0937/36

There are a number of headers where the instrument lighting signal passes through, maybe poor connection on one of them.

C0289 Behind RH side of fascia.... C0289/15 Instrument Pack Illumination
C0290 Behind front of centre console...C0290/6 Clock

Like Christopher says, check the LSM connector.
If ok, check C0289 as this feeds the Instrument lighting signal to C0290

Hope this helps
