Traction control problem

The electronic traction control on my 2001 2,0 V6 Auto tourer just stopped working today. Now that wouldn't normally be a big problem but the warning is in the display all the time and this annoys me. Pushing the button is no use,nothing happens.
According to the manual, the ABS brakes are on the same fuse as the traction control. Brakes work fine som the fuse can't be the problem, can it?
Any suggestions as to where to look for the solution?

Turning the car on and off a couple of times hasn't helped either - this "fix" cured my suddenly non-working cruise control earlier.

You could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes that will allow some things to reset, if indeed that is the problem.
Similar to rebooting your computer if it gets it's knickers in a twist.

Phoned the ex-Rover garage here, they actually had the tester in this week so I will bring the car over tomorrow. Let's see how many thousand €€€€ it will take to fix this.

When you say your ABS is ok have you physically tested it? and is your cruise control ok as well? as all three are related

yep, I have physically tested the ABS and it works as it should. We have quite icy roads here right now so it's very easy to test. Cruise control works exactly as it should as well.

I tried to get to the fuse box under the glove box today but couldn't open it. I released the two screws but it wouldn't budge. Can anyone advise as to how to get to the fuses?

Two screws at the front and two plastic nut type things at the back then take the cover off

You should find fuse 19 is TC only 10A

OK, the problem was within the traction control motor. I have no idea what a a traction control motor is, but that's what the garage said...
Apparently this motor (or could "unit" be a more proper name?) is the same as used on some BMW's. They phoned and asked whether I would be OK with them ordering the part from BMW for 300 € - or if i wanted the Rover item for 600 €. I said I have no probelm with BMW parts int his particular case
