Good morning Bob, good morning Andy, good morning Ian, good morning all, what’s everyone up to?

I have booked for an early morning pick up taxi for 04:30 on Friday to take me to the airport for the 08:00 flight to London. I am staying in an airport hotel Friday night and on Saturday, Harrisop48 is collecting me and he will take me to pick up the car. It is storage in a secure setting near Reading. It had to be moved there to stop it from being stolen, for its scrap value. A gang had been going round looking for cars parked up for a long time. After collecting the V6, maybe an early lunch, before the drive to Bristol.

The sun is just breaking through and 24C is forecast. The headache from the shingles is still there, now 4 and a half months on. It’s nerve pain. I don’t know anyone else in the club who has had it, but it is gradually getting better every day. When it’s cleared up, then it’s the dentist. I will get my broken teeth pulled out and new teeth screwed in. It’s a bit embarrassing going out in public with no front teeth and having to talk with a lisp. I can’t pronounce anything beginning with the letter ‘F’........ There is always something, isn’t there

I was chatting to a guy here, who has never had a headache, he has never had a day off sick and he has a Hollywood smile. In fact he is a really nice chap. I wonder what his secret is?

Once the nerves get involved its hard for them to reset themselves Phil, I believe the body somehow keeps remembering the pain, allowing the nerves to become erratic sending pain signals back and forth. Do you know if you have all three major branches of the trigeminal nerve involved, as I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia about 14 years ago, and I believe my pain was caused by unnecessary dental work. Once the myelin sheath that covers the nerve tissues become damaged either through trauma or disease, it seems to take a very long time for the repair process to happen.

As far as I know Shingles does effect the trigeminal nerve and causes a form of severe neuralgia, this also effects all the teeth and imitates toothache. This was a battle I kept having, I didn't develop Shingles, but the battle between TN and dental pain was a nightmare, the specialists found it very difficult to treat.

As for going out in public with no teeth Phil, its certainly embarrassing as you say, but you soon learn not to care as much. I went six months without teeth, the time has gone by very quickly, I found talking to be quite funny at times, some words you just cant pronounce at first, but the tongue soon learns to adapt. I just like you found I had a lisp all of a sudden, even the lips move differently, its all quite strange. I'm having to adjust again, as I now have my new set of nashers. The lisping isn't as bad and I'm thankful that I can wear dentures with ease, I know some people do find it quite difficult to wear dentures.

So... all I have to do now is sort my other problem out, but I have found urology isn't so straightforward... and I like you don't know anyone else who has suffered from the same problem, or they don't like to talk about it.

Phil, it would be nice to catch up with you one day, we will have to meet up for a good old natter.

Good morning Wes, your a man of the world who does not have any issues in talking about health. Some people do and would never admit to being ill. Perhaps they see it as an admission of being faulty and weak. I feel it is all part of the human condition and men need to be more open about their health and not feel stigmatised.

I showed your photo to Jessica, the one you posted up the other day and she asked if you were a male model. I said I don't know, but the photo is deceptive, as he is has been suffering with his mouth and balls from severe pain. Full marks Wes you are able to smile, despite your pain and discomfort.

I had a funny dream last night about lesbians which I won't go into, as we are a family forum and wondered if it was due to the LGBTG talk on the forum recently or from the medication I am on for the Shingles. It is said, if you discuss your bad dream, you won't get it again.

Anything is possible about meeting up. Jeff has invited me up to his boat for a jolly and I keep promising myself a trip up there. Perhaps he will invite you as well

I am lucky I don't have any ball ache, but to relieve my head pain at night, I apply a hot water bottle filled with ice from the freezer. It numbs the pain in an instant. What about applying a frozen water bottle to your testicles, when the pain is bad. Just a thought. A third of Shingles sufferers get a stroke within the first 12 months of recovery from the virus. Something I have to be wary of. But I am hoping I am in the lucky 2/3 who manage to escape it.

I did see a dentist in Nairobi after breaking my teeth. He had to give me an injection to inspect them as they were hypersensitive. I had a 3-D scan of the jaw to see if there is enough bone or if the jaw is diseased or not. He has told me I will need implants and a new bridge. The whole process will take 6-9 months. A nice chap from Sweden who sang whilst he did his magic. He did say, if I wanted implants done really cheap, I could go to India. At £150 it is cheap, but it is a long way to go for follow up
