Cool Not often that you hear an estate agent......................

......................................... say that they are jealous of the house you have bought. Well, that’s what Mike said at the letting agents today. I decided to hand the keys in today on my old rented home ahead of time. My tenancy agreement doesn’t officially end till 13th July but I could see no point waiting that long to hand the keys over. The carpets have been cleaned along with everything else.
So by mutual agreement we terminated the contract early.

So I’m owed 16 days rent plus my deposit, be some more dosh to come back then.
Busy day today, after visiting the letting agents. First job was to get some shopping. Taking Redfive to Morrison’s in Liskeard, gives the car a run. (New owner collecting her at the end of July).
Once home with the shopping, catch up on some paperwork.
Then out to do some weeding on the rear, side and front gardens, was hot but as the ground is very dry it didn’t take long.
Managed to get next doors front path cleared of weeds.

Checked the time and realised I could get the rubbish up the tip before they closed. Redfive brought into action again. Tip was empty for a change but the traffic getting home was horrendous. Lots of wobbly’s going on holiday via the roundabout on the A38. Still soon home.
Dinner, large chunk of rump steak, new potatoes and salad. Washed down with some Adnams Ghost Ship.

Very happy with what I have achieved over the last 6 months, going from rented to home owner. Better still, the move from Essex to Cornwall in the last 12 months. People have said that I have been very brave in uprooting from my home in Essex and making this move. Not brave, but necessary in my case. Those stairs at the flat in Barkingside would have killed or seriously injured me in the future.
Not sad that I have left family, not much in the way of family, and moved far away. If they care they can come and visit. My brother in law will be down in the next month or two.

So onwards and upwards from now on. So No Going Back to Live in England.

Many thanks for the kind comments. I’ll keep the post alive with updates as when they happen.

£20 for window cleaning seems an awful lot for the size of your house Bob, 8 windows? The words P... and taking it spring to mind.

Cool Huge Thank You to...............

...................................... Allen for coming round to sort out my toilet seat and lid. I was fully aware that the seat and lid were broken as it was stated in the surveyors report. There was a brand new set sitting waiting to be fitted.

So I thought I’ll have a go at this, shouldn’t be hard should it? Well what a strange affair the fittings don’t go right through, with a nut bolt system. The old fittings just go into the pan. Well I twisted them one way then twisted them in the opposite direction thinking that they would unscrew. Nope, turn yes but no unscrewing nor would they lift out.

So I phoned Allen who said he would come round in the evening, bringing Val with him to see the new furniture as well.
So I got on with other jobs that needed doing. Put lots of bits on market place on the book of faces to sell. Cut the grass. Washed Banana and Redfive.
Had a change round in the lounge. Then upstairs to have a change round in the second bedroom.

Got dinner ready, nice chunk of rump steak, new pots and a side salad.
Allen and Val came round at about 6.30pm. Val made the tea whilst Allen had a look at the loo fittings. Not the easiest of things to do but Allen soon had it figured out. The chrome covers over the screws were easily removed and he was able to screw out the fittings. The screws were just screwed into silicon, no fittings whatsoever.
But the new ones had expanding fittings the more you screwed into them they expanded and gripped inside the pan.
Soon the seat was clipped into place. Both the seat and lid are those slow to close bits.

More tea? Oh! Go on then. Both Val Allen sat on the new leather sofa. They both found it very comfortable. We sat and chatted. Allen had me in stitches of some of the things he got up to in his youth.
But the time was rolling on and it was time for them to go.

Cool Been here........................

......................................... four weeks and 2 days officially, and still finding it hard to fully understand this house is mine, all mine. Still finding things to put away, or throw away.

Getting on ok with my neighbours, met Andy today lives across the way but over on the Green. Really nice chap, his daughter loves Bertie the Banana.
Been busy today having been away for the last 6 days. So far today I have put everything away, done two lots of washing and hung it out on the rotary line. Been to Tesco’s, over the bridge in England, and done a mega shop. Came home and put everything away.

Then drove out to the butchers at Carkeel, spent £56 which worked out to a total of 18 meals. Came home and put everything away in the freezer, still using my last lot of freezer food.
Got all the washing in and put it all away.
Got a visitor coming down on Tuesday, Karl Hooley, who is going to give Banana a Ceramic coating. I didn’t ask him he asked me if he could do the job. Getting a good deal plus he will stay overnight.

So all in all everything is working out just fine.

Still not going anywhere...................
