Default Private car sales.

Yesterday took son and g/son to buy g/sons 1st car. Met seller at Asda car park where he had 4/5 cars for sale, selected Fiat punto 06 reg low mileage very good price. Didn't pay deposit said we will be back monday with payment. Son checked car out on internet, "finance owing on car". Nearly stung.

With 4 or 5 cars for sale he is a trader not a private seller.
Always best to carry out an hpi check when buying a 2nd hand car,

You's did the right thing checking it out.

Cant understand why anyone would want to go to an Asda carpark to buy a car, that alone would start the alarm bells ringing.

I agree rev, I picked our 75 conny up last night from some dodgy geezer on an industrial estate, to make things even more suspicious, he was called graham and had a dodgy accent!

He must have a doppleganger up here in Scotland. I picked up my ZTT from an Industrial estate, from a guy called Graham, but I was the one with the dodgy accent

Never agree to meet anyone on a car park to buy, especially a car. If they are a private seller they will have a home and that home address should be on the log book. In your case he was obviously he was a trader, trying to dodge tax and etc.. He will have bought the car for much less than his selling price.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

I agree with your top points but isn't the above the whole idea, no profit, no point?

It's good you spotted his apparent lack of concern for hpi etc
