GSX 250 Chop Project
Hi, I had started a thread on here for the rebuild of this bike. I'd hoped to have had the bulk of the work done by now, ready for the painting etc to have it ready for the summer. But for various reasons I've not had time or money to get it done, and now my wife has given birth to our 2nd son I'm not going to have time for everything, rebuild this, sort out my Buell, keep the car good, so somethings got to give.
I'll try to give it as basic points rather than ramble on: Bikes been stood for around 8 years, had a starting issue which is why it was parked up. I've taken all the wiring off the bike, and tried to wire up a basic ignition circuit to get the bike running, but I've been unable to get a spark. Carbs have been taken apart and cleaned, there's compression, engine turns over fine. Tyres and new chain and sprockets were fitted while I was riding it, but it's been stood so tyres will probably need replacing, but with a good clean the chain should be good. It will need some new rear mudguard supports, as my dad has had the backrest off of it for his sportster (though I may be able to retrieve part of the old backrest if wanted) Will need new throttle/RH switchgear. I stripped all the wiring off so will need rewiring, with new lights etc. Basically its a rolling chassis, with front and rear mudguards, tank, engine, battery box, brakes and various small bits and pieces. Would rather get it out the garage soon and in 1 go, so offering it up for £80, if no interest I'll strip it all down and sell the bits off. |
