Any sign of the steering adaptor yet?
The Crutchfield lot seem to have accepted the re-shipping address so roll on tomorrow

Update on this for anybody interested.
The Steering wheel control module arrived from the USA and, after a bit of head scratching, experimentation and discussion with Pacific Audio Controls tech support is now fitted and working perfectly. It takes about 10 minutes to fit if you have the ISO connectors. It maps all of the standard SW controls to their proper functions. Eclipse have STILL not released their IPOD adaptor, but Eammon and I have used the TOMTOM / IPOD adaptor cable with no problems other than the fact that it doesn't provide power to the IPOD as the Eclipse one will. Fascia panels are being prepared. The inside of the centre console will look like an explosion in a Meccano factory but it'll all work . The problem caused by the TOMTOM operating files update has been solved by a roll-back of the offending software which has no discernible effect anyway. Not exactly a plug and play alternative but still worth the effort IMO. Last edited by Raistlin; 13th January 2009 at 18:21.. |

FINISHED - well, almost
After quite a bit of work - a lot of which was on the fascia - I have now almost completed my Eclipse install. Just to recap what was purchased:
Some pics of the finished product: N.B the plastic protective covering is still on the Tomtom screen so it looks a bit dull. I don't know what the spot on the LHS of the fascia is I have also posted a (poor) vid on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHPnWhnSX2k. I will post a better one when I figure out how to use my camera I am very happy with the final result and would like to thank Paul (Raistlin) for his assistance. I may do a "how to" at some stage but for now, this will have to do.

It looks to have been well worth the effort Eammon.
Hoping mine will look much the same in a week or so Luckily, Radio 3 and Classic FM do not need frequency change so I managed to avoid that expence. I'm still of the opinion that there will be a firmware crack to solve the problem. I'll take this opportunity and reciprocate the thanks for all the assistance you've provided me with on this joint project. Cheers mate |

As for the firmware fix - I doubt it. The AVN2210p is about €365 inclusive of postage and customs. The current retail price of the AVN2227p is €900/€1000. I can't see Fujitsu giving us a firmware update that will convert the 2210p to a 2227p.

Juat have to say, always wondered about after market jobs trying to make sat nav looked like it should be there, and you have done an excellent job, really looks like it was meant to be there and love the way you have got the rover badge and your car details on the screen, looks like a factory fitted unit. Has anyone ever fitted a sat nav where the screen slides out from a stereo type unit, would be intresting to see.
But well done a very good effort Andrew

Nice job CDTI looks very smart, looks like a standard fitment. I also like Christopher's Alpine unit and the ease of fitting to the single din. One question can you install safety camera locations on the Alpine?
