can a key fob go out of sync

was at a club meet at the weekend and the fob just stopped unlocking/locking the 260 was ok first thing.
..
Locking all works with the key blade, LEDs light up but does not unlock.

and it all works normally if I use the with the spare fob.

New battery in usual fob and still nothing , just LEDs light up ? Clues anyone . ta,

I suppose you have tried the three presses re-sync method. I doubt if it has gone out of sync,as the spare functioned ok,so the count should still be within scope. This happened to me once with my every day used key, what you have described. It turned out to be a solder joint inside the fob detatched. I sent it to a fob repair on ebay and he returned it within48 hrs repaired. It may well turn out to be a physical / electonic issue inside the fob circuit or its components. Mine was the simple result of dropping the key on to the road after locking the car remotely.A quick tap on the ground may have been all that was needed. I will see if i can remember the dealer if you cannot sort this out. I think i paid about £15 all in . let me know if you want to give him a go. regards xsport
