Default 2008 - the year of the Humber V8 (?)..

This project has been hanging around far too long so, this year, I'm determined to finish it.

It is a 1963 Humber Sceptre Mk1.

The original idea was to replace the engine with a Rover 16 valve M16 unit but plans have changed. It's now going to be Rover V8 powered

This is the state of play so far:-

The engine bay has been modded and transmission tunnel opened up at the front

The V8 has been lowered into position so that appropriate mounts can be made

This shows the extent of work necessary to the transmission tunnel inside the car....

...though when it came to trial fitting the gearbox (Rover LT77 ex SD1) even more metal needed to be removed

(Gearbox needs to be slightly lower than in the above pic)
Body requires much work

Anyone else got any projects for 2008 ?

Mk1 Sceptre was one of my favourite cars when I was a lad, most had disappeared by the time I was old enough to drive.
That is some project TF, makes my bit of DIY look pretty silly.

Is that a Triumph Spitfire in the background TF?

This is the Spitfire in the background Jules.. (rebuilt from a bare chassis)

Currently (forgive the pun!) being rewired with a 16 fuse box.

I was going to ask that very same question! I, too had a hankering for a GT6 a few years ago but finances and SWMBO put the lid on that one.

Looks great, as does the V8 project. Not just your average strip-it-down-and-rebuild-it then.
