The one I removed did not appear to have any flats. The nut above was not seized, just very difficult to get anything to hold it so that I could undo it from below. The new ones do have the six sided edge and I was able to lock the new upper nut (stainless?) whilst tightening from below.

I suppose, with hindsight, I could have put spring compressors one whilst I had the jack lifting the strut to release pressure on the bottom fixing to the roll bar, then lower the strut so that the spring could be lifted out of the way and a socket or ring spanner used.

A couple of small jobs today - fitted a new rear wiper blade (the old one was looking very tragic) and also replaced a faulty ABS sensor... now I have a working speedometer and cruise control!

Sadly discovered that water is leaking in and getting into the front passenger footwell. My first thought is sunroof drains, will try and get to it over the next couple of days...fortunately no more rain coming this week.

After all the work I have done on my ZT lately I have taken the weekend off.
Well, almost!
The big job of the day was replacing the seals on my header tank pressure cap with a viton seal kit. The other job which was even easier was fitting a club badge to the rear of the car.
Time for a nap and a beer!
