Default Sapphire Cosworth Diagnostics.

Earlier today I followed a mint cossie. When permitted he gave the car some beans and I eagerly followed. I was intigued why a what looked like a emissions sensor probe was attached to the exhaust tailpipe.

I pulled up on the N/S of the car at a roundabout to see a guy in the front passenger seat with a lap top. He looked at me and smiled and mouthed the words "Remap Diagnostics"

These cars in their day were the bussines, I remember back in 95 test driving on a view to purchasing a decent second hand car at a main dealer. The car was only a couple of years old and was on offer at 7.5K, insurance premiums put an end to the dream.

Any members out there ever owned one of these in their day?

I ran a shipping department many years ago and in 92 (from memory) one of the Ford ships going to Dagenham smashed into the jetty rendering it U/S and the ships came to Chatham for around 6 weeks, I didn't go home for the first 3 as it was all hands to the pumps..

Anyway when it was all over I had a visit from two directors & the head of Ford Europe, he was put in the picture on what we had done etc..saved the day all that sort of ********

In thanks I was given a 4x4 Cossie Sapphire totally free for three months and much fun was had.

Turns out the ship hit the jetty because the Spanish crew were watching the National footie team in the semi's of the euro championships or somesuch and had left an 18 year old alone on the bridge..I think the captain had plenty of time to watch anything he liked afterwards tbh..

A taxi with a turbo

Awesome cars in their day and there are still a few nice ones left out there. It's funny how times have moved on as 7.5k today might buy you a "half decent one" but if you want a "good" one your looking at 10k + and if you were to ask me what I'd rather drive on a daily basis my diesel zt or my cossie, I'm taking the zt all day

I recall the test drive in the Cosworth well. The car i looked at was Magenta with black Recaro leather. I drove from Leicester to Loughborough and was told by the saleman to floor it a few times, it took your breath away.

I finally opted for a XR4x4 for insurance purposes.

My brothers friends dad had a cosworth and after going out in it I was underwhelmed.
I kept hearing good things about cosworths and I went out in it.

maybe because my dad had his tuned rover vitesse.

gutted because its one of those halo cars of my youth and it wasnt all it was cracked up to be and shattered my dreams
