I think it must have got it by being within reach of the home WiFi...? Magick.

Sorry I don't know whether a generic one would work or not.
If it's like the navalls it would need to be an xtrons one purely because it has the drivers for the dongle.

I’ll never use another satnav installed on a car, much prefer satellite view Google maps on my phone, it’s fantastic

You're probably right, and that's what I've used for ages, but I get annoyed by having stuff fitted that doesn't work!!!
