No matter what number the screen is, 1st 2nd 3rd etc it is not right and could be dangerous to your driving vision they need to changed it, the longer you leave it to get it addressed the less chance they will want to do it.

I second Arctic's response.

A faulty windscreen could invalidate your insurance (unlikely, but you know how they like to weasel out of anything in any way they can).
A fault is a fault. If you got a new tyre that was bald or had a hole in it, you'd reject it and keep doing so until you got a proper one. Same with the screen. First didn't fit so you'd get leaks and possible wind noise. Second has ripples. If they deliver another and it's smashed into bits, you'd reject that one too! You pay for something to be correct, it really ought to be correct, and if you dither, they'll take it as accepted and try and weasel out of replacing it.

Yes, I am old and cynical.

So I'm booked in for a replacement. Lamisafe this time.

I've searched them up and they're from AGC made in India. The website looks impressive, so fingers crossed.

And thanks for your reassurance. The glass company National have all been very helpful and friendly throughout so 5 stars to them.

What I noticed today apart from the distortion is the internal plastic film sparkles in sunlight like dust particles and the whole windscreen seems to reflect the top of my dash board like never before.

This is a niggle on my wife's Picasso so I cut some black rubber pond liner to fix that. But I was always happy not to have it on my Rover and the new glass seems to reflect it like hers now.

I think these replacement screens are just not made to the same specifications as the originals.

So had the new screen fitted yesterday. We tried to measure it,(unsuccessfully)before we took out the other one. Would you believe it ?
It’s too narrow again. Argh!!!!!
It looks better for the short while I examined it clarity wise but the fitting width is useless.
The fitter was moaning about it not me I told him I’d had enough quite frankly.

My trim is in great condition he said, so doubtful it’s shrunk so what’s going on.

Three 75 screens supplied all different widths and all too narrow.
Screen 1 Nordglass revealed screen clips on both sides after trim fitted
Screen 2 Pilkington just sneaked in behind rubber trim by 1.5 to 2mm but rippled
Screen 3 Lamisafe .5 mm behind driver side trim flush and not covered by passenger side trim

Expect Windnoise to ensue WTF

My advice would be to opt to repair chips before rushing out for a new screen I’m fed up with the whole business.

I wonder do pre facelifts have a wider screen trim by any remote chance?

HI Neil.
Not good news at all, it increasingly sounds like we will be looking to remove screens from salvage R40 in the future by the looks of it, I wonder what Mickyboy a trader on here thinks about removing some, hopefully he may comment.

There again will a screen glass company fit the used screen for you ? or us if we went down that road.

What are their intentions for your screen now find another one for you ? I would have thought the Pilkington one would have fitted

Windscreen companies will fit used glass but they won’t guarantee their work if they don’t supply the screen.

I have removed a few screens, I have also broke a lot trying to remove them, it’s a horrible process.

I have a Pilkington screen fitted by previous owner. No leaks, but it doesn't fit properly and whistles at speed.

Looks like I'll have to put with it.

Whats going on with this ‘wrong size’ screen thingy. Does no one take any pride in getting things right? You don’t think our cars have ‘grown’ over the years?

Just been on Pilkington Glass site and as far as I can tell, they do not make screens for the 75?
