Heated Drivers seat wont shut off
Hello People
I have asked this issue before but to be honest have got nowhere. I had some sarcastic responses which to be honest its not what i joined the forum for. Its just can anybody tell me why i cant my seat to turn off ?. The button is out but the drivers seat wont shut off the passenger one is fine. Connectors under the seat ? relay ? i don't know this time of year its a bit warm to drive with it on. I fear i will have to go to a auto electrician. Where i am though they are at opposite ends of the county. Many thanks its appreciated/ |

the seats have at least one thermostat, perhaps it's stuck in the on position

Have you tried what I suggested

I seem to recall I suggested testing the wiring with a test meter. Have you tried this? Until we know what is happening here we cannot give accurate advice. Chris |

Have you swapped switches to see if the drivers one is faulty?.

I’ve reviewed your initial request for help and this did attract one attempt at humour but the rest were sincere offers of help. So, I’ve had a look at the circuit and it’s very straightforward. First of all there are no relays involved so we can discount the familiar suggestion of welded contacts. An ignition switch controlled supply is wired directly to the seat temperature sensor (orange/white). This applies voltage to two heating elements (wired in parallel) then the circuit continues (yellow wire) to the operating button on the centre console. This button applies an earth to the circuit (black wire). So, your problem has to be caused by either the seat temperature sensor, the operating button or a wiring short circuit. Here’s how to proceed. As oldcarguy has said, extract both operating switches from the centre console and temporarily fit the LH switch (which you know works) in the RH position. If the seat remains unheated then it’s the switch which is at fault. I believe that the switch contains an integral timer but I can’t find details at the moment. Based on your evidence that the seat continues to heat even when the operating button is released, this is the most likely cause of your problem I hope that gives you the guidance you are seeking Chris. Fit a NEW heated seat switch, the switches have a built in timer if the timer fails in the on position the seat won’t turn off, the other possible problem is the relay operating the seat heater after the switch has got stuck making permanent contact, which would have the same effect, Kind regards Alan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
