v6 oil leak
Hi all. The latest thing I'm trying to tackle on my "to do " list is my oil leak. The cars always had it during my ownership and was even mentioned in the ebay details as being present beforehand. Its a small drip but means the car " marks its territory" wherever I park up :-)
Do any v6 owners know of any common leaks that it could be ? The drips are always from where the oil cooler (?) Bolts to the sump but the pipes going into this are dry. I know that if the car is left for a long time . I.e. months. Theres very little oil left in the sump so the leak is obviously low down. I dont want to randomly start taking things off because with the kind of luck I usually have I'll end up breaking something. I would include photos but not sure how to do this on my phone thanks Brett |

Low down is usually pretty obvious stuff - sump plug (is the washer fitted) or sump gasket.
Also, the dipstick seal on the V6 can leak - the dipstick actually enters the sump at a level below the normal oil level, so if the seal is duff it'll leak.

oil leak
The dipstick seal sounds like a possibility. Is a replacement seal available ?

I might be wrong, but I think it's just a rubber o ring in the black/red locking collar, same as the ones on the inlet manifold.
