Lightbulb Brake lights turn on intermittently after locking car

Hi, I have got an MG ZT Saloon CDTI

When I lock my car either manually or with the key fob it sometimes turns the brake lights on for a period of time before going off again. However it does not do this every time.

The headlight and fog light switch panel also stays illuminated after locking the car, and the headlights are off!

Any help is very much appreciated, Cheers.

Your LSM (AKA headlight switch) is faulty Chris

The LSM is coded to the car, VIN mileage etc, however a used replacement can be coded to suit your car with the correct equipment.

I am surprised your battery is not going flat also, as the LSM will be preventing the body control unit entering it's "sleep mode"

Right, thanks very much!

I shall have to source one and get it programmed!

The reason behind not suffering with a flat battery is that the car is layed up at the minitue as I get it back up to a nice standard before the summer!

Cheers again!

You might just need to clean the plug contact pins on the light switch module.---

Not if the backlight illumination is constantly on John, in cases including that fault the LSM is defunct
